A RICH & VARIED PALETTE OF TASTES & FLAVOURS FROM RURAL FRANCE

The Luberon is well known for its markets appearing daily in different villages or towns stocking seasonal and local produce. Fresh breads, olives oils, meats, truffles, bundles of lavender, delicious cheeses.

At Le Grand Banc we take advantage of these incredible fresh and flavoursome ingredients and bring to the table only provisions sourced in these local markets or from the butchers and bakers in nearby villages.

Breakfast

Breakfast is served in the winter kitchen, in the heart of the village, on an outdoor terrace with a glimpse of the Luberon hills. Breads and pastries from the local village of Simiane La Rotonde, jams made from the autumn fruits grown at Le Grand Banc, honey from the bees that feast on the gardens lavender bushes, fresh eggs from the octogenarian lady of Oppedette and cereals mixed with local grains.

Lunch

Lunch is a cacophony of colours and textures, displayed on a magnificent slab of marble perched on the edge of Le Grand Banc cliff face with spectacular views of the national park of the Luberon. Not a building in sight just acres of land and lavender and local scrub oak. Quiches, aubergine gratin, onion tarts, tomatoes, salads, regional cheeses and fruit all served with Rose of the palest hue.

Cocktail Hour

Drinks in the main house with tapenards (the local olive dish) from the Sunday market in Reillanne, anchovies from the coast. Followed by dinner either outside in the summer kitchen, or if a breeze on the vast oval table in the winter kitchen or, if a smaller party, in the main house on the round marble table surrounded by contemporary art.

Dinners

Dinners are lamb, traditional Daube de Boeuf, lapin, fennel pork all served with vegetables bought that day from the market and the meat from Monsieur Alain in Cereste. Puddings chocolate & pear sponge, roasted figs, poached peaches and favoured ice ream from the Scaramouche family again in nearby Cereste.
